GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

• At the end of each lab section there are a few sheets with blanks to fill in and questions to answer. These will be handed in as your lab reports. Labs are due a week after the data for the lab is taken.
• If you finish taking data early and finish your lab report and hand it in, you may leave early.
• As you are doing the lab, the instructor may ask you to answer certain questions that are not explicitly asked in the lab report. You are expected to turn in the answers to these questions as they will count toward your grade on that lab.
• When asked to perform calculations you must show all work. In addition to that, I want you to write a 7-13 lines long paragraph about the main purpose of the experiments done and I want you to state whether or not (and, if not, why not) this purpose was achieved with your experimental results. This will be an opportunity for you to explain any error that might have crept into your expreiment.

PRE-LABS

• These appear in your manual are under the heading Advanced Study Assignment. You are to hand them on the day you do the lab. If you miss a lab and make it up on the make-up day, do not hand in the pre-lab until the make-up day. They are due at the beginning of the class and will not be accepted late, late being after class starts.

QUIZES

• There will be a total of three closed-book quizes. The idea is to test if you have gained the required understanding of the material. The quizes will also give you an idea about the final exam. The exact dates will be announce later.

FINAL EXAM

• The final will be given on the last day of class at the normal class time. I will prepare the final and it will be similar to the quiz questions. You will have a practical part where you are asked to use equipment to take good data.

GRADING POLICY
The final grades will be based on the following weights :

1. Lab reports - (11 labs require reports and I will drop one lab, so a total of 10) - 50 %
2. Pre- labs - 11 in all, all count - 15 %
3. Quizes - 3 in all, all count - 15 %
4. Final - 20 %
