Missing classtalk scores in Homework Service and

an illustrative worksheet for computing classtalk scores at the end of the semester

A cps record is transferred to HW Service only for those students whose first and last names in the cps roster are identical to those in the hws roster. Any mismatch in the first/last names will prevent the transfer of that student's record.

When a student finds that his/her cps records do not appear in the HW Service, the student should determine whether there is a mismatch in the entry of his/her names in hw service (button 5.3 in the student's hw service account) and the corresponding entry in student's eInstruction account (Student Admin tab). If there is no mismatch please contact a cps administrator. If there is indeed a mismatch, the student must submit a worksheet to the instructor at the end of the semester to claim his/her classtalk credit. We recommand the use of a standard format as illustrated in the example below.

We regret that UT cps support does not have the resource to handle nonappearance of student's record in HW service due to the mismatch of student's names as described.

Determine classtalk score after the classtalk record ends.  Use the worksheet format illustrated below.

1.        Copy your individual student's record (Sec II.1 in the UT cps homepage) at end of semester into an editing file. Delete unnecessary lines (see below).

2.        Enter your first/last name as they appeared in your homework-service account, see button 5.3.

3.        Complete the classtalk scores column: For each day, classtalk score = 2*AP + Nc. Here Nc=0, if no correct answer was given for that day. Nc=1, if at least one correct answer was given. Note that opinion questions are not considered correctly answered here. You should have at least one "1" symbol to get Nc=1.  The maximum classtalk score for each day is 3.

4.        Enter total number of drops announced by your instructor. Mark the dropped classtalk socres with an x.

5.        Compute you after-drop-total of the classtalk score, and after-drop-maximum of the classtalk score.

6.        Your classtalk percent score = after-drop-total/ after-drop-max.

An illustrative work sheet: Here is an example of a CPS record. It is concocted for illustrative purpose only. Assume that there are 2 drops and that the last record of the semester is on 4/29/04.  The parts the student needs to fill in are indicated in red.
