I paddled out on the North side of BHPier using
the rip and paddled under to the South Side. It was a week day
in March '02
and there were about three or four of us in
the water and the waves were cranking!!! I was trying out my new
board at the
time , an 8 ft. Longboard House shape that
I had used everywhere except Bob Hall. Did not know if it had
the acceleration
and manuverability it takes for that thumping
break. After a couple nose drives I got my groove and started
ripping lefts
and rights. I must have been doing OK becuase
a couple of locals were paddling out and one of them made that
little
noise we all make when someone rips past us
in the curl unless they are so close it makes you tense up. I
remember
a head high backside I did not know if I was
going to make , but make it I did!!! I found out later after I
talked to
those guys they wanted to know if I knew where
Smithville was , I said I reckon I do......
It was a great day , I think I will keep the
Florida made stick.......snapped a few pics after session..
