If there is something really urgent you need to speak to me about my home phone is 833-8267.

Description: This is the lab course, which accompanies the PHY 303L lecture. You are required to have the 2001 PHY 103n lab manual, a calculator, a ruler, and graph paper.

You should read the theory section and the lab procedure in the manual prior to each lab. This will help you finish the labs on time. Under no circumstances may you attend another lab section other than the one you are registered for.

PHY 103N – Spring 2002 Schedule

Lab Date Lab Performed
01/28 0.W1 Introduction I
02/04 0.W2 Introduction II
02/11 1.W Electrostatics
02/18 2.W2 DC Circuits
02/25 2.W 2 DC Circuits (cont.)
03/04 3.W Electron Dynamics
03/11 Spring Break
03/18 4.W Oscilloscope
03/25 5 .W RC circuits and filters
04/01 6.W Electromagnetic Induction
04/08 7.W Polarization
04/15 8.W Refraction
04/22 9.W Imaging Optics
04/29 10.W Diffraction and Interference

Grading Policy: Your grade will be based entirely on the worksheets provided in the lab manual, and the Pre-labs. The lab worksheets will comprise 90% of your grade, and you must hand them at the end of the third hour. Failure to do so will result in a zero for that worksheet (always put your name and your partner’s name at the top of each worksheet). The Pre-labs will comprise 10 % of your grade, and they will be due the following week. At the end of the semester I will drop your lowest lab grade (only one grade will be dropped).

Academic Honesty: You will generally take your experimental data in groups of two. You must record the data in the lab since the worksheets will be completed in the third hour. You are encouraged to share your ideas and discuss on how to perform the experiments successfully, but you will not collaborate during the third class hour when completing the worksheets.

To all PHY 303L instructors:
PHY 103N lab will begin on the week of 01/28. Please notify all PHY 303L students to prepare to do the first lab 0.W1.
Thanks
