Minutes of the 7 September 2005 meeting of the Graduate Representative Board:

TA Appointment Shortage: The board is upset by this shortage, but realize that it is due to a number of factors beyond the control of individuals in the department. We are disturbed that it took as long as it did for students to be notified that they would not be recieving assistance this term. We suggest that there be firm guidlines for notification of non-hiring by a certain date, as well as a list of alternative resources (other departments, internships, etc.)
phpBB: The Board seems to be stagnating. We brainstormed a bit of ways to try to increase usage. We will try to gain administrative access so that we can make it look better and change features in a timely manner.
Grilling Sessions: We are eager to get these going again as soon as possible. Stacy will send out an email asking for volunteers. As the budget is constrained, these will probably be held in RLM.
Peer Mentoring: Jesse is working on assembling the Peer mentors for first-year students. When that is done, we will match mentors to students and go from there.
Website: Ion says the department website is on hold right now, since the budget is so tight. We do not have the funds for a 10 hr/wk web administrator appointment.
