Intro: Highlights

· Teaching Team: TA and Learning assistants

· Iclickers and two computer accounts: Quest and Webassign

· Syllabus: Lesson plan, ~ 1homework per class. They are collected biweekly with the due time: S11:30pm, W11:30pm

· 4 midterms and 1 final allow 1drop on midterms.

Chapter 1:

Matter, and Interactions.

Vector :

Vector: 3D, 3 components, it has 3 numbers. Scalar: One number.

· Vector:

o Magnitude (Generalized Pythagorean theorem) and

o direction (unit vector)

· Examples: Position vector and the displacement vector in 3D

· Vector algebra:

o Addition and subtraction of vectors.

o Multiplication and division by a scalar quantity. 

To-do-list:

· WebAssign: Need to do self-enrollment.

· Quest: Created already through Registrar/Quest auto-interface. You need to enter serial number of your Iclicker in Quest. Starting from next time we use the clickers for “real”.

· Begin to work on ch1, h1 from WebAssign. Recommended study strategy: Keep one step ahead of the syllabus in reading and in doing hw-assignment.
