A workshop has
been organized for all of the faculty instructors, graduate teaching assistants
(TAs), and undergraduate learning assistants (LAs) who will be involved with
the Matter & Interactions courses in the spring 2011 term: 4 sections of 303K and 1 section of 303L. Instructors
who had taught the MI course in fall 2010 and who will be teaching it in fall
2011 are also invited to participate the workshop.
The workshop
will be led by Professor Mark Haugan (Purdue
University), who has ten years of experience teaching MI and who is
enthusiastic about the MI curriculum; he is now is preparing MI volume III, for
a junior level course.
The
opening session will be at ACE 6.304, 9-10:15, Th
Jan 13. (Notice the room change from the earlier announcement). Professor Haugan
will present an overview of MI. Earlier we have invited faculty, who have a general interest in MI, to attend this session. Since we have changed the opening session to a larger room. other interested faculty and graduate students are
encouraged to attend this session also.
The remaining
sessions are closed sessions in ACE 3.408. These sessions are training sessions for the
participants: the MI-instructors, their TAs and LAs. The content of these
sessions are listed in the program below.
If you are not on the participant list and are interested in
participating any of these sessions please let us know. You are very welcome to
attend any or all of these sessions.
We hope this
workshop will provide a great start for more interest in MI curriculum, and it
will lead to possibly a large scale adoption of MI in our department.
Thank you,
Charles and Harry
