Currents and Ohm’s law
A model for Ohm’s law
- Current density in terms of drift velocity
- Ohm’s law as a consequence of vthermal
>> vdrift
Temperature dependence of resistivity
- Ohmic matter
- Other cases:
o
e.g. Jacob’s
ladder
o
Insulators, Semiconductors
o
Superconductors
One more ohm’s law application: Text problem 65, PQ-page233
- An infinite ladder network
Reminder:
- There is instructor’s
informal section today, see time and place above.
Reexam-set:
After
each midterm there will be a reexam-set posted in
your TT-account which is essentially identical to the midterm you have taken
except that there will be a new version number.
- It is intended to give you a chance to work on
the midterm once again in an open-book setting. Also, discussion among
peers is allowed.
- The reexam-set is an
optional homework. The advantage for doing it is that it gives you a
chance to reflect how you should study in this course.
- Also at the end of the semester, re-exam grades
may be used to replace your low homework grades.
Due
dates:
- HW5 is due at 4am on Sunday.
- Midterm01 due at 4am on Monday
