PHYSICAL SCIENCE 304
ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM

There are no books required. As a matter of fact they are expressly forbidden. During the course of this semester you will not be taught any physics*, and under no circumstances will you ever know the right answer.
However, you will do physics. You will search for the right answers and you will struggle with uncertainty. My role in this class is to expose you to interesting and often perplexing phenomena of our real world and yours shall be to describe, experiment on, and understand it.

Class Content
Magnetism and Electromagnetism
Waves and Optics
Electricity and Electronics
As we begin the semester I will guide you in the process of experimentation. I will help you phrase a question correctly, attempt to isolate specific problems, and design an experiment to test said phenomena. I will only do this once. During the next phase of the semester I will not tell you what to do but instead simply offer helpful suggestions. As we get further along I will offer less and less assistance until, towards the end, you will be on your own. In this last phase of the class you will design and conduct your own experiments and be ready to stand by your answers. Note that even though I will not give you the ``right" or ``expected" answer you will still be responsible for these when it comes to the test. Thus I test not your ability to memorize, but your ability to reason and experiment So do your work diligently and carefully
