Low Temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscope (LT-STM3)

○ Research Projects:

I am currently using STM to investigate defects in pure and doped Bi2Se3. Working with colleague Yuxuan Chen, we are studying spiral initiation and 2d nucleation in the epitaxial growth of Bi2Se3 on Si(111). Separately, I am investigating the various defects in Cu-doped Bi2Se3 and correlating them to the electronic structure.

Additional projects include the preparation of Si microlenses, fabrication of ultra-smooth cantilevered micromirrors, and developing positioners for cryo/UHV operation.
