I am now building up a scanning tunneling microscope incorporating a setup for light emission collection (LE-STM). I will investigate the surface plasmon properties of single-crystalline, atomically smooth Ag film grown on the semiconductor substrate. I am going to figure out if the electronic properties of the thin Ag film play a role in the feature of the plasmonic properties of such a film.
