You will need a copy of the problems available in the system. These can be downloaded or purchased from the Homework Service.
Log in to the Faculty Home Page at the URL https://hw.utexas.edu/ (or go BACK to it) and choose the 1.1 - create an assignment link in the assignment section of the menu.
The Homework Book link allows you to download the Table of Contents and/or problems out of the sections.
Choose the radial button <use subject classification> to the right of the assignment names.
Highlight the assignment on Screen 1. You may have to scroll down to acccess a second or third category.
Click <OK>.
You can sort the problems by either section (same as in the "books") or by name.
Highlight the chapter(s) on Screen 2 and click <OK>.
Use the Apple key on the Macintosh or the <CTRL> key on the
PC to select more than one chapter.
Highlight the section(s), difficulty(ies),
question type(s), and time to work and click <OK>.
At least one option must be highlighted in each of the four windows.
Highlight the problem names and click <OK>.
The preview link on this page points to the "Homework Book" page (one file for each section).
Select a due date. Other options are available:
Click <OK>.
Use the <PDF> or the <PostScript> link to preview
your assignment.
Preview the solutions to the problems carefully.
Once an assignment has been POSTed for the students, the problems
cannot be changed (the due date and points can be
changed after POSTing if you wish).
You can change the point value for each problem if you wish.
POST the assignment if you are satisfied with it and are ready for your students to have access to it. You must scroll down the screen and specify the day of the week matching your due date before the POSTing will work.
You can quit the process and come back to create an assignment for a given homework as often as you wish before POSTing the homework.
Students cannot download an assignment until after you have POSTed it.
