PIRA 5H15.10 - Magnetic Fields: Iron filings around a Current in
a Wire.
Instructions / Notes:
- Demonstration includes a wire loop with platform, (shown below) and
a power supply, (not shown).
- Wire loop has a circular platform on which to sprinkle iron filings
on a plexiglass disc.
- Sprinkle iron filings on the plexiglass.
- Switch on the power supply and turn the variac knob until ammeter reads
75 Amps.
- Tap the plexiglass on its underside to encourage alignment.
- Turn-off power supply and place the plexiglass disc on an overhead
or document camera..
