      PHYSICAL SCIENCE: PS-304  Fall 2000

Electricity, Magnetism and Waves

Assistant Instructor - Marina Milner-Bolotin

Hands-on physical science course for nonscience majors (PS-303 and PS-304) was designed by a former president of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), Professor of Physics at UT, Dr. Robert N. Little more than 30 years ago. Since then, the course has undergone numerous changes. Unfortunately, Dr. Little passed away 15 years ago. However, the spirit of the course remained the same: everybody has a right to discover science for himself/herself. More than 30 years ago Dr. Little mentioned in this regard: "When people turn away from science in a world that is increasingly dependent on technology, it is time to take a look at the way science and technology are taught in our schools" (Robert N. Little, 1971). I hope that PS course you are taking this semester will help you to rediscover science for yourself and rediscover yourself in science. I wish you luck in this journey!
