Some of my astrophotographs:
These images are from
Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory and
McDonald Observatory.
The camera shutter is allowed to stay open using the 'B' mode.
The stars move through their natural path and the camera remains
still, thus recording 'star trails'. 'Moonrise' is actually the
moon rising over the Andes Mountains toward Argentina. It seems
like the sun because it is such a long exposure. Most of the
exposure times are long forgotten, unfortunately. 'Milky Way Rising'
is my favorite, the Milky Way really stands out in the Southern
Hemisphere. The CTIO pictures were possible by the generosity
of Dr. Don Hoard. He let me borrow his Pentax camera and tripod
during my last observing run at CTIO. I normally use an old
Canon AT-1 camera.
