• Quizzes and Final Exam:

– There will be 4 evening tests and a final. See the syllabus for dates and times.

– During each test a fresh course summary sheet will be given to you. Many exam questions will require calculations. Make sure that you bring your calculator to each exam. No make up midterms will be given. ( See grading policy).

– The final exam will not be administered at a different time for any reason. In registering for this class you are implicitly confirming your availability to take the final examination at the officially scheduled time.

- For each quiz, formula summary sheet will be provided.  In addition, you are allowed to have a one-page self-prepared summary (double-sided is fine).  Note, this self-prepared summary needs to be hand-written.  Photocopy is not allowed.  At the end of the quiz, you need to turn in this self-prepared summary.

• Grading: The grading policy is intended to compensate for the no make-up policy. The lowest midterm grade will be dropped. If you miss a midterm, this will be the grade that is dropped.

The class-grade will be as follows:

Assistant Instructor recitation session (i.e. discussion session) (5%)

Inclass (“Class-Work”) (5%)

Homework (drop 7) (15%)

Quizzes (drop 1) (45%)

Final (30%)

Final grades will be determined by a class curve. Independent of the class curve you are assured of getting the following grades if you score at least as high as these cut-offs:

A : Grade > 90%; B : Grade > 75%; C : Grade > 55%; D : Grade > 40%
