PASCAL'S PRINCIPLE


If you try this with a gas you will discover Boyle's rule, pV = constant, because a gas is compressible! A slow movement of the piston does not do work on the gas, because gas molecules typically move at hundreds of meters per second, so the total energy of the gas remains constant as the piston moves in and out.
