Pascal's Law for Liquids
Photo Shows the Apparatus Used at U.T. Austin
The photos show that the different vase shapes result in the same pressure reading when filled to the same height.
Instructions:

Screw one of the four vases onto the apparatus.

Verify that the rubber release tube is clamped, and then add water.

You can mark the height of the water with the metal pointer.

You will see that the pointer rises along the pressure chart (UNITS: MILLIPASCAL)

Release the water into the empty beaker by pointing the rubber tube downward into the beaker and releasing the clamp.

Repeat the steps with the other vase shapes.
Concepts Conveyed:
-
Vases filled with water at the SAME height will result in the SAME pressure reading.
-
Vases filled with the SAME volume will NOT result in the same pressure reading.
Demo Staff Notes:

Fill one beaker with colored water.
-
Leave the other beaker empty.
