Reminders:
o
Read chapter 18.
Do hw14. Your goal is to complete hw14 as much as possible on your own, by the
Wed before Thanksgiving.
o
Those of you
needs additional explanations, I strongly urge you to come to the Wed’s class, if possible. If you cannot attend, arrange to
borrow notes from your classmate who can be there
o
Are you concerned
about your standing in this class? Please see me after the class or tomorrow
after the informal session. Be sure bring your
Quest-record with you when you come.
Good participation status(gp-status): As stated in the firstday
handout, the gp-status will be evaluated based on
student’s pre-final quest-record which will close at 4pm on Monday Dec 8. Student’s
verification of the accuracy of his/her record prior to this deadline is a
prerequisite to achieve his/her gp status.
To
achieve gp-status, again as stated in the firstday handout, this verified pre-final record must
satisfy following the triple 80% -criteria.
1. Homework score (after 2-drops) >80%,
2. TA sessions score >80%,
3. Iq-score check > 80%.
a)
Iq-score (after 5 drops) >80%.
b)
A student can
substitute the requirement of 3-a) by having his/her class notes audited during
the last week of class. If you want to take this option, you must contact your
TA. The classnotes must show an over 80% class
attendance and the participation of iq
sessions. A more than 20% absence from
the class for any reason (including legitimate reasons) will automatically disqualify from consideration of the gp-status. If a
student with a low iq-score has passed the audit,
his/her iq-score will be converted to 80%.
Notice option b) is
intended as a safety-net to take care of exceptional cases. Since presently the
quest-clicker record is working, I expect the number of requests for using this
option should be reduced to very few, if at all.
